Take the first steps to making the most of your summer!

Summer is a time to live in the moment, to forget about the problems in your life, any problems you have with yourself, and to just let your hair down and enjoy life.

For many of us, myself included, the hardest part is getting started. Here are some tips that will help you get off to the best start this summer.

Step 1:

  • Identifying your goals: For many people it can help to create a goal for each of the categories you want to work on, either by giving them specific days to focus on them or a goal of a certain number of hours a day to work on these things. Write down your goals and they’re more likely to work out!
  • Begin working on your creativity: Whatever you’re interested in, whether it’s photography, art, music, dance, writing, whatever you love doing, now is a good chance to get more practice, especially if you want a career in your passion. You could even make Instagram accounts for all these things and gain recognition there!

Step 2:

  • The right mindset: We all know how easy it is to spend every day watching tv and eating sugary treats, but in order to have a more fulfilled summer, avoid this. Do something that makes you think. Good ideas are taking online classes, reading books or magazines, journaling, or just generally learning things.

Step 3:

Don’t forget about your self: Look after yourself – it’s time to pay attention to your mind and body’s needs and wants. Think before you say yes or turn things down, why are you doing them? Are you turning down extra hours at work because you hate it? Do you actually need the money? Are you spending hard earned money on junk? Are you avoiding getting your license or applying for a job because you’re anxious. It’s important to make a list of things that you need to do, goals you need to achieve, fears you should conquer and make your way through it. Use the summer as an excuse to grow as a person rather than to let your fears rule you.

And most importantly!

After all, it is the summer. Enjoy it, it only comes once a year! Enjoy the sun, go swimming, meet up with friends, go on trips, enjoy the warm nights, go to festivals and parades, enjoy amazing food and find concerts to go to. The summer is waiting for you… take it!
