Folly Beach is just outside of Charleston but has a feel all of its own. A bit more edgy and filled with a somewhat younger crowd, the overall feel is family-friendly and lighthearted. Surfer dudes roam the beaches, a hopping downtown has no shortage of diverse eateries, and there are hip cafes to sip a latte. Folly’s best beach rentals range from renovated bungalows to coastal charmers, and we’ve compiled a list of our faves.
Fourth Block Private Beach Paradise with Golf Cart
A vintage feel shines through in the aesthetic of this renovated bungalow, just a short walk to the beach. The hosts went with a “surfer” feel that’s true to Folly, so expect bright colors accented by polished woods. Extra outdoor space is what tips the property over to having a very “vacation” appeal, and there’s even a shower out there as well.
Salt and Sol. Ocean Breezes in a Chic Home
A cottage feel and luxury touches come together to make the interior of this upper-level unit feel like a seaside haven. The appearance is reminiscent of a spa resort while remaining private and ideal for an actual get away from it all. The Airbnb Plus has plenty of flowered and manicured outdoor space to sweeten the deal.
New Home - Private Pool, Parking, Close to Beach
If the sleek patio with a dreamy saltwater pool doesn’t sell you, the “chic coastal” interiors will. Recently built, everything is crisp with that naturalistic style, and it’s gorgeous. Downtown Folly is within walking distance, so folks can walk to grab a morning coffee, or indulge in a drink or two when eating out for dinner.
Private Home - Pet Friendly, Walk to Beach and Town
Modern farmhouse meets the beach in this adorable, beach proximal home (you can walk to the surf and sand). Vaulted ceilings and wood floors in the breathtaking kitchen are the tip of the iceberg. A deep set front porch with an outdoor couch compliments a screened-in option in the back, which also provides various games for the whole family. Pets are welcome too!
Chic Folly Beach Haven with Deck - Steps to Ocean
Stretching high into the air, the home reminds us of a treehouse, just way more luxurious. All the interior wood paired with tropical colors and foliage will transport guests to a Caribbean island escape, except you are still in South Carolina. The beach is a quick walk away, down the stairs, so the location is prime.
Bohemian Cabin with Water View Deck
Transport back to the 30s when immersing in the historic home. However, many trendy touches have been added, while preserving the structure. Bright walls are adorned with subtly funky wooden decor and contemporary accents—the blend might be what you are looking for to change things up on vacation. Touting the Airbnb Plus title, the location is perfect and the reviews are stellar.

One Bedroom Unit, Steps from Beach
A highly rated Airbnb option for two guests in Folly Beach is this one-bedroom space that is very clean and comfortable. The rental unit is 750 square feet in size and has its own private entrance. It’s a duplex, with the hosts living upstairs and this apartment located downstairs. The bedroom has a queen-size bed, while there is also a kitchen, bathroom, and living room inside. Guests will have their own small deck, covered patio, and be able to use the outdoor shower. There’s a large, fenced-in backyard that is shared with the main house but that guests can use as well. Other things to know about this Airbnb rental is that there is high-speed internet, a TV with cable, beach chairs, and street parking at the back of the house.
The Betty White
Another option that comes in well under the $200 mark, “The Betty White“ is a private entrance room with cheery bright white colors and a lovely bathroom. Even a somewhat private deck is part of the retreat. A dining area is a place for all guests to gather and mingle like we know Betty herself would.
Beachside Boutique Inn - That 70's Room
A 70’s themed room bursting with colors and smiley faces probably aren’t what you’d expect to find in a boutique hotel, but it’s awesome, and an affordable pick for those wanting a solid Folly getaway on a budget. Like all great boutique options, the complimentary snacks are plentiful, loaner beach gear is available, and there are some pretty sweet commons areas, including a tiki bar.
Blackbeard's Folly II--Sleeps 12

This particular unit sleeps up to 12 people within cozy bunks and other plush beds, and a lovely sunroom and kitchen add to the convenience.
