Imagine falling asleep to the sound of the waves or waking up to views of sparkling blue water. It sounds like a romantic fantasy, but it’s a reality in Florida where there are beachfront RV campgrounds.
Camping on the beach isn’t legal everywhere in Florida so the spots where it is are very popular. But don’t worry about having to find the best ones – here are the top-rated beachfront Florida RV campgrounds around the state.
Bahia Honda State Park - Big Pine Key
An hour north of Key West is Bahia Honda State Park. A rich part of Florida history, Bahia Honda offers crystal clear waters of both the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico to go swimming, fishing, snorkeling, or kayaking. There’s also an opportunity to hike to the top of the Old Bahia Honda Bridge, which was once part of the Flagler railroad system. It’s the perfect location to watch the sunset or stargaze on clear nights. The park has RV sites with electricity, water, and charcoal grills (no campfires are allowed in the park) with 13 of the sites located directly on the water.
Fort De Soto Park - St. Petersburg
On over 1,000 acres at the southernmost point of St. Petersburg, Fort De Soto Park has made the nation’s best beach list multiple times. With more than 300 bird species to see, clear waters, wide white sand beaches, a historic fort, bike trails and fishing piers, it’s easy to spend days camping and not see the same thing. There are plenty of RV spaces on the water, but some of the views may be slightly hidden by mangroves. Sites include electricity, water, grills, and picnic tables. This beautiful park is one of the top things to do in St. Petersburg.
Fort Pickens Campground - Pensacola
Built to protect the Pensacola area in the 1800s, Fort Pickens is now part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. Live oaks, hiking trails, beaches with access to the Gulf of Mexico, nature discovery center, and fishing pier give campers lots to do and see in the park. Campsites have fire rings, grills, electricity, and water hookups.
Gamble Rogers Memorial State Park - Flagler Beach
On the northeast coast, Gamble Rogers State Park is a smaller state park with 34 camping sites on the beach. Located on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intercoastal Waterway, it’s a great place for swimming and fishing. Each campsite has a fire ring, electricity, and water.
Red Coconut RV Park - Fort Myers Beach
After exploring the Thomas Edison and Henry Ford winter homes, watching the sunset from your RV home on Fort Myers Beach is the perfect way to end the day. Red Coconut RV Park is on 450 feet of beachfront and has parking slabs, full hookups, and internet services. The park also offers on-site shuffleboard and laundries along with quick access to swimming and fishing.
Turtle Beach Campground - Siesta Key
Beachfront camping on Siesta Key lets you experience old Florida while staying close to all that’s happening around. Close to restaurants, shops, and water rentals, it’s the best of both worlds. With direct beach access, Turtle Beach Campground has crushed shell pads and full hookups available.
St. George Island State Park - St. George Island
Located on a barrier island between Apalachicola Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, St. George Island has one of the best beaches in Florida’s Panhandle and offers access to swimming, fishing, and nature watching. Home to sea turtles, dolphins, and shorebirds, it’s also a wonderful place to go looking for shells. The campgrounds don’t have direct water views, but are less than a quarter-mile from the beach and have electricity and water hookups.
Key Palms RV Resort - Key Largo
One hour south of Miami and two hours north of Key West is Key Largo, where you can experience sunrise and sunsets and some of the best diving in the country. Keys Palms Luxury RV Resort lets you sleep to water views, a private beach, full hookups, internet, a heated pool and spa, and other amenities to help your family feel at home.
Grayton Beach State Park - Santa Rosa Beach
Bicycling, bird watching, hiking, paddling, and swimming all await visitors when they camp at Grayton Beach State Park, one of the best state parks in Florida. On the Emerald Coast directly off the Panhandle’s famed road 30A, Grayton Beach has a campground with water views, electricity, and water hookup.
Coral Sands RV Resort - Ormond Beach
Wake up to the sounds of the Atlantic Ocean when parking your RV at Coral Sands RV Resort. A part of Ormond Beach since the 1940s, Coral Sands offers access to the ocean along with a heated pool, Wi-Fi, full hookups, and amazing views of the water.
