There are more than two dozen hotels at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., and hundreds more in the surrounding area. However, if your family is so large you’ve upgraded to a minivan (or larger) or you are traveling to Walt Disney World with your extended family, not just any hotel room will do. You need spaces that allow for both solo time and family togetherness, lots of storage, and, let’s face it, more than one bathroom. These eight hotels in and around Disney World are specially designed to accommodate large families who need more than a standard hotel room.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is a budget-friendly Walt Disney World hotel that celebrates favorite characters from the wonderful world of Disney animation. The resort’s family suites are themed to The Lion King, Finding Nemo, or Cars (yes, you can reserve the specific theme you prefer) and sleep up to six adults. Each suite has one bedroom with a queen bed and ensuite bathroom, as well as a large living area with a kitchenette, second bathroom, and a couch and dining table that both fold out into double-size beds. The resort also has multiple pools, a kids’ splash pad, and easy access to Disney World’s theme parks via bus transportation or Disney’s Skyliner gondola system.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of Disney World’s Deluxe resort hotels. It carries a much higher price tag than some of the other onsite hotels, but you’ll also enjoy larger guest rooms, more dining options, and close proximity to Magic Kingdom (so close you can see the nightly fireworks from the resort). The resort’s two-bedroom Ambassador Vice Presidential Suites recently received an elegant, colorful makeover inspired by Disney’s Moana. Each bedroom has two queen beds and its own full bathroom. In between the two bedrooms is a living area with a kitchenette and queen-size sleeper sofa. There’s plenty of storage areas for your family’s luggage and the souvenirs you’ll inevitably pick up during your visit.
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort is in Disney World’s Value resort hotel category, but you wouldn’t know it from the large one-bedroom suites that are tastefully decorated and have plenty of space for large families to spread out. You enter the room into the living area, which has a couch and dining table that fold out into queen-size beds, as well as a large kitchen and full bathroom. The master suite has another queen bed and full bath with a walk-in shower. The entire property has a playful music theme and you can access the pools and food halls at Disney’s All-Star Movies and All-Star Sports, as well.
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
Set among a sprawling forest of pine and cypress trees, The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort offer a peaceful, secluded retreat from Disney’s theme parks. While the cabins do have a rustic feel, they also have modern amenities like a full kitchen and large flat-screen TV. The cabins have one bedroom with a queen bed and twin bunk beds and a large living area with a dining table and double-size sleeper sofa. To ensure a stress-free vacation, Disney offers an order-ahead grocery delivery service so your fridge can be fully stocked when you arrive and golf carts available for rent so you can explore the resort and adjoining campground.
Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
The Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are perched 10-feet off the ground for unique treetop views you won’t find anywhere else at Walt Disney World. The villas are outfitted with muted tones, dark woods, marble countertops, and art and furniture inspired by the great outdoors. Each villa sleeps up to nine adults with three private bedrooms, a living area with a twin-size sleeper chair and queen-size sleeper sofa, two full bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and large furnished patio. Complimentary bus transportation to Disney’s theme parks is available and there is also water taxi service to Disney Springs.
Margaritaville Resort Orlando
Margaritaville Resort Orlando is a carefree, island-inspired escape located less than 10 minutes from Walt Disney World. The resort offers a variety of accommodations, but the colorful cottages are best suited for large families. You can choose from anywhere between one and eight bedrooms depending on the size of your group. Each cottage comes with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and large living space, as well as something you can only find at a resort inspired by Mr. Jimmy Buffet – a Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker on your kitchen counter. You’ll also enjoy access to Margaritaville’s family-friendly amenities including heated pools, onsite dining, and complimentary shuttle service to Disney.
The Grove Resort & Water Park Orlando
The Grove Resort & Water Park is an all-suite property with spacious accommodations and all the comforts of home. Each suite has either two or three bedrooms, a full kitchen with dishes and silverware, a full-size washer and dryer, large living room with a sofa bed, and a screened-in furnished balcony. The Grove is less than 20 minutes from Disney World and complimentary transportation is available, but there is an onsite water park, spa, swimming pools, and lake activities to keep you busy at the resort.
Westgate Town Center Resort
Westgate Town Center Resort in Kissimmee, Fla., is just minutes away from Walt Disney World. Westgate Town Center is suitable for any group with accommodations ranging from studio villas to four-bedroom villas. Each villa is fully equipped with everything you need in your “home away from home” while on vacation and the resort amenities like a water park, movie theater, paddle boats, and mini golf will help you relax and recharge in your downtime.
