Georgia goes green on St. Patrick’s Day, celebrating Irish heritage from north to south. Whether it be a party to gather friends to drink beer, or an authentic experience delving into the roots of the culture, Georgia has you covered.
Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade - Savannah
Savannah preps for their massive St. Patrick’s Day Parade by holding several events in anticipation of the big day, such as the Greening of the Fountain in Forsyth Park on March 10, 2023, at 12 p.m. Celebrations here are more than green beer and shamrock swag, they reach deep into the culture to celebrate Irish heritage. A St. Patrick’s Day Mass kicks off the events on March 17th, 2023, followed by the parade at 10:15 a.m.
Suwannee Beer Fest - Atlanta
St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated a day late (March 18, 2023) at the annual Suwanee American Craft Beer Fest. One of the biggest craft beer festivals in the southeast, Town Center Park will be full of food, games, live music and unlimited tastings of 350 craft beers. Grab your tickets early for discounted prices!
Shamrock City - Lookout Mountain
Rock City in Lookout Mountain switches things up for the holiday—enter Shamrock City! Irish and Celtic musicians will be performing, and experts teach visitors how to dance the jig, but you could always just watch the professionals. A few festive items on the menu are Irish Stew, Bratwurst and Mint Chocolate Swirl fudge. Need we say more?
Atlanta’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Atlanta holds one of the longest celebrated St. Patrick’s parades in the country—starting all the way back in 1858. Like Savannah, Atlanta integrates true Irish culture by featuring Atlanta Irish groups like the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Fire Emerald Society of Metro Atlanta, and the Irish Information Center. Expect to see community band performances, bagpipes, dancers, floats and vivid displays. The parade will be held on March 11, 2023, at noon in Midtown – rain or shine.
Dublin Laurens St. Patrick's Festival - Dublin
Of course, a city named Dublin is going to have an awesome party—a six-week-long one. There are over 40 events happening within this monster celebration that extends through February and March, from the St. Pawtrick’s Pet Costume Competition to the Leprechaun Road Race. Pancake breakfasts and corned beef dinners are on the list too.
Smyrna St. Patrick’s Day Festival - Atlanta
Finding a great happy medium between activities for the kids, and some tasty brews for the adults, Smyrna’s Festival is one of the more family-friendly options. From watching fountains turn green, to eating great food, this event in the Market Village is just the right amount of “party.” Another perk is that the party spans two days – March 17th and March 18th.
Fado Irish Pub’s Block Party in Buckhead - Atlanta
Streets around The Buckhead Shops completely shut down for this huge party on St. Patrick’s Day. Fado’s authentic roots mean they know how to throw a killer Irish bash. Outdoor bars offer beer, whiskey and other festive drinks, while the music is always awesome. But perhaps the most meaningful celebration at Fado’s is when volunteers gather to have their heads shaved for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation on March 10th, which raises awareness and funds for childhood cancer.
