See Magical Christmas Lights at the Atlanta Botanical Garden

Through January 15th, 2022, the 30-acre Atlanta Botanical Garden will twinkle with 2 million bulbs for the Garden Lights display. Popular exhibits include the Walk of Flames in the Tunnel of Light, musically synchronized Orchestral Orbs, the Glittering Galaxy, Radiant Rainforest, and a magnificent assortment of model trains.

The 25 foot tall Ice Goddess is reminiscent of Te Fiti from Disney’s Moana, but with hair of glittering light strands. The serene statue is one of the most eye-catching parts of the holiday stroll. Being immersed in the lights by exploring on foot makes for a much more involved experience; just be sure to check the weather and bundle up. The show goes on rain or shine, so account for that too.

Being in the heart of midtown, there’s no shortage of places to eat, but the Garden has a fantastic restaurant, Longleaf, with dishes prepared by Atlanta chef, Linton Hopkins. Southern artisan fare like chicken pot pie and shrimp and grits are part of the short, but delicious menu. During peak days it gets crowded, but you can also lounge at an outdoor bar with views of the Atlanta skyline.

This year will also introduce new displays, including the all-new Glowing Grove along the Flower Walk and several illuminated sculptures. Don’t miss experiencing the Skylight Lounge in the Skyline Garden and several larger-than-life plants from Imaginary Worlds: Alice’s Wonderland.

This is a perfect event to take the entire family, where both you and your kids can roast s’mores by the fire and sip warm beverages while touring the gardens. Don’t miss the Tunnel of Light and Orchestral Orbs.

Extras like hologram glasses, train rides and drink tickets can be added to your visit. On select days, Santa himself will be making appearances and taking Christmas lists! This is one of the very best Christmas events in Atlanta, and the earlier you go, the better. It will only get more and more crowded because it’s that awesome!
