Discover The Texas-Shaped Lazy River in Downtown Houston

What’s better than a rooftop lazy river? Well, in the great state of Texas, everything is better when it’s shaped like the Lone Star State — even the lazy rivers. And now, you can float your way around the state in Texas-style luxury, thanks to a new hotel with a splashy, Texas-sized tribute to one of the most recognizable states in America.

The Marriott Marquis Houston is home to the only Texas-shaped lazy river in the world. And in true Texas fashion, this heated rooftop river is big — about 6,500 square feet, to be exact. The lazy river sits 110 feet above street level and it will take you and your inner tube about 22 minutes to circumnavigate the great state of Texas, from the Panhandle to the Louisiana border and everywhere in between.

For those looking to soak up the sun, there are plenty of lounge chairs surrounding the lazy river terrace as well as poolside cabanas for those seeking some shade. If the lazy river doesn’t float your boat and you’d rather spend your time swimming, the hotel’s amenity deck also has an impressive infinity pool.

Whether you’re floating or swimming laps, be sure to take a moment to appreciate the impressive view of downtown Houston’s soaring skyline. The hotel overlooks the city’s Discovery Green, a 12-acres public urban park in the heart of downtown that features a lake, recreational areas, children’s play areas, dog runs and venues for public performances.

The 29-story Marriott Marquis Houston debuted in December 2016 with 1,000 guestrooms and one of the largest meeting spaces in the city at almost 40,000 square feet. In addition to its one-of-a-kind lazy river, the hotel boasts Texas-style luxury with 40 suites, a full-service spa and six restaurants, and lounges. If you’re not a guest at the hotel, and are over 21, you can purchase a day pass and enjoy the pool and other amenities.
