Perfect photo ops and bright bursts of beautiful blooms, this small family-farm in Mims features a rare sunflower maze. You can stand in a field surrounded by flowers as tall as you are at Sledd’s U-Pick Strawberries, where every year they craft a massive maze for visitors to enjoy.
Spanning over four acres, the collection of yellow beauties light up the farm. It will take you anywhere from 45 minutes to one hour to complete the twists and turns of this maze, but the opportunity to admire the vast expanse of towering 6-foot flowers is worth the road trip alone.
Known for its U-Pick strawberries and vegetables, the farm is a family-friendly place to visit, where you can bring home an array of home-grown goodies. From blackberries to eggplant, peppers and squash, you can even find green tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, kale, okra, black-eyed peas and zucchini ready for picking. You pay for your organic treats by the pound.
The only year-round U-Pick farm in the area, Sledd’s U-Pick Strawberries started with humble beginnings. The farm was a citrus grove in the early 80s and expanded to growing peas and okra, before adding strawberries to the mix.
The farm is now open year-round, with strawberry picking typically running from January through April, blackberry picking in May and a pumpkin patch in October and November.
The sunflower maze is typically only open a month, so you better act quickly if you want to see this unique Florida attraction in all its glory. Check their official Facebook account for regular updates, as the dates typically change depending on the weather.
