19 best girls trip destinations for all travel styles

Somewhere between starting the group chat and comparing different budgets, planning a girls trip can turn from excitement to frustration. One friend wants beaches, another wants culture, someone insists on nightlife, and suddenly no destination feels like the right fit for everyone.

Then there’s the pressure if you have limited time off. When you only have a long weekend or a single week, you want a place that’s easy to navigate and filled with memorable experiences. When you throw in logistics like transportation and accommodations, it’s easy to feel stuck before you’ve even booked flights.

But remember that the best girls trip destinations are less about following trends and more about matching the place to your group dynamic. Whether you’re craving cultural immersion or adrenaline-filled adventures, there are spots that naturally make group travel more fun.

Here’s a roundup of our best girls trip destinations based on vibes, as well as practical details like average expenses and how to get around.

Our top girls trip destinations at a glance

  • Beach & relaxation: Dance the night away at Boracay’s White Beach.
  • Culture & city vibes: Explore Prague’s museums and affordable food spots.
  • Adventure: Go jet boating through river canyons in Queenstown.
  • Seasonal events: Witness autumn come to life in Kyoto.

Where to go for beach & relaxation

A comparison of worldwide beach destinations across vibe, cost, and transport factors.

If your girls are craving sunshine and a slower pace, these destinations strike the perfect balance between relaxation and fun.

Boracay, Philippines

Boracay is ideal for groups that want postcard-like beaches without sacrificing nightlife or other lively activities. White Beach is the heart of it all, with soft sand and plenty of spots along the water to spend the day together.

For instance, you can take beachfront yoga classes at sunrise or watch the sunset while enjoying fresh fruit shakes from local food stalls. If you want to pick up the pace, take part in island hopping tours to Crocodile Island and Crystal Cove by paraw, a traditional sailboat. When the night falls, the beach becomes a stage with fire dancers and open-air clubs that let you dance right on the sand.

Phuket, Thailand

Phuket offers a mix of active beaches and peaceful escapes, which means you can party in Patong and then unwind in quieter areas like Kata or Kamala. If your gal pals are also foodies, they’ll enjoy exploring local night markets for street food or participating in a Thai cooking class.

If you have a bit of extra room in the budget, consider a boat tour to the Phi Phi islands. Enjoy swimming and snorkeling in the Pileh Lagoon or visit the Viking Cave. Then, stop for lunch at Leam Tong Bay and relax at Rang Yai Island before heading back to the mainland.

HOT TIP

You’ll have to rely heavily on ride-hailing apps like Grab to navigate Phuket. Public Wi-Fi can be spotty, so if you don’t want to deal with buying local SIMs, you can use a travel eSIM like holiday.com to ensure a reliable connection when booking your rides.

Lloret de Mar, Spain

Lloret de Mar is one of those places that never sleeps, but it doesn’t feel hectic. If you’re visiting in the summertime, head out to one of its many clubs late at night and catch the locals taking strolls or sitting at their terraces and talking to their neighbors. You’ll find plenty of cocktail bars lined up next to the main city beach, but I should warn you that drinks come in XL size.

Based on my own time there, I suggest relaxing at the Fenals Beach (it’s smaller and less crowded than the main one) and taking the time to explore Castell de Lloret. It may look like a medieval castle on the outside, but once you’re inside, you can buy tickets to a VR experience about the climate crisis. I found it incredibly fun and educational with strong “Blade Runner” vibes.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

If someone in your group is a history buff, San Juan offers a mix of Caribbean beach vibes and rich Spanish colonial history. Condado and Isla Verde beaches are popular choices for sunbathing, but you can also take a day trip to the islands of Culebra or Vieques for untouched sands.

During the day, walk through the colorful cobblestone streets of Old San Juan or visit the massive El Morro fortress. At night, the La Placita de Santurce market transforms into a massive outdoor party where locals and tourists dance salsa and enjoy live music.

Florida Gulf Coast, USA

The Florida Gulf Coast is famous for its white-sand beaches and rich marine life, so it's a great option for a low-stress getaway. Relax at Clearwater or Siesta Key or hop on a dolphin-watching cruise. If you want to splurge, you can also rent a private beachfront cabana.

Where to go for culture and city vibes

A comparison of major cultural hubs across vibe, cost, and transport factors.

If your group prefers museums, food scenes, and vibrant city energy, these destinations deliver.

Seoul, South Korea

Seoul is a dynamic mix of high-tech luxury and ancient palaces. If you dress up in traditional Hanbok, you’ll earn free entry to the Gyeongbokgung Palace. Then, you can explore the traditional wooden houses of Bukchon Hanok Village.

Hongdae is the place for street performances and indie clubs. For a more polished, high-end night, head to Gangnam to dance at huge electronic clubs.

HOT TIP

The Google Maps app in South Korea provides limited data due to national security regulations. If visiting, it’s best to use Naver Map or Kakao Map for accurate walking and driving directions.

Prague, Czech Republic

Prague is beautiful throughout the year, but I find there’s a special charm to it in winter, especially if it’s snowing. Start by visiting the Lennon Wall at the Grand Priory Square, then explore the nearby narrow streets to find local pastry shops with homemade cakes. Food in Prague is delicious and affordable (even near the city center), whether you opt to dine at pubs or local taverns.

I particularly recommend taking a boat cruise on the Vltava river and visiting the Franz Kafka Museum for a unique and interactive experience. You and your girls should also walk across the Charles Bridge and touch the statue of John of Nepomuk. Locals believe that rubbing its plate brings good luck and ensures you come back to Prague.

Charleston, South Carolina, U.S.

Charleston is all about history, food, and Southern hospitality. Book a guided walking tour to explore the city’s historic district. The area is rife with famous spots, including the pastel-colored houses on Rainbow Row, art galleries in the French Quarter, and a 200-year-old market with local food and handcrafted goods.

While tourists often focus on Charleston’s historic offerings, many forget that island beaches surround the coastal city. You can spend a day relaxing at the Folly Beach or rent a beach house on Sullivan's Island for a laid-back, country vibe. Charleston’s King Street is the main corridor for dining and nightlife, with plenty of rooftop bars and jazz spots.

Rome, Italy

There are more cultural spots in Rome than we have room to show, so depending on how many days you’re staying, you’ll have to prioritize. The Vatican museums are a staple, though they’re technically located in Vatican City! I also suggest visiting the nearby Castel Saint’Angelo and the Da Vinci museum, where you can try out some of his inventions.

You can relax in one of Rome’s many parks, like the Villa Borghese gardens and the Orange Garden (all are free to enter). We don’t recommend visiting Rome during the hottest summer months (July and August) because the high temps and humidity make it difficult to enjoy sightseeing. However, if you do come in summer, beaches like Ostia and Torvaianica are a short ride away via metro, bus, or train.

Montreal, Canada

Montreal brings European flare to North America with its museums and street festivals. Spend some time wandering the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal and admiring the 17th century architecture. Or, if you want something more modern, visit the Contemporary Art Museum or the murals of the Plateau neighborhood.

If your girls are up for dancing, Montreal hosts the International Jazz Festival in the summer. But even outside festival days, you can go for a dance at Plateau’s indie bars or Saint-Laurent Boulevard’s hidden speakeasies.

Where to go for adventure thrills

If your gal pals want something more active, these destinations bring excitement and adrenaline rush.

Cusco & the Sacred Valley, Peru

A trip to Peru combines trekking with exploring the spiritual history of the Incan Empire. Cusco should be your main base, and it’s a good idea to stay there for three or four days to acclimate to the high altitude. Check out top sites like Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun) and Sacsayhuamán, a huge fortress overlooking the city. Don’t forget to spend an afternoon in the artisan neighborhood of San Blas, with craft shops and charming cafes.

From Cusco, you can easily do day trips to Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. There are day tours from Cusco to the towns of Pisac and Ollantaytambo, allowing you to see the main spots in one go. You can also hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Or, if you’re like me and prefer a shorter thrill, take an ATV tour through the Maras Salt Mines.

Reykjavík & the South Coast, Iceland

Iceland’s landscape may feel like another planet, but its capital has a modern, artsy vibe. For an adventure, you and your girls can snorkel between tectonic plates at the Silfra Fissure or explore the black sand beaches of Vik. If you’re visiting in winter, the Reynisfjara black sand beach (near Vik) and the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon are great spots for catching the Northern Lights.

Reykjavík has a famous "bar crawl" culture. Because the city is compact, it's easy to hop between colorful spots on a night out. It also offers plenty of cultural experiences, from Harpa Concert Hall and the North Pole theater to the whale watching exhibition in the Grandi district.

Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town has access to not one but two oceans (Atlantic and Indian) and plenty of opportunities for an adrenaline rush. Hike Lion’s Head mountain trails for amazing sunrise views or go paragliding off Signal Hill. If your girls are truly brave, you can take a short trip to Gansbaai and try shark cage diving. My top pick, though, would be to drive down to Boulders Beach to see the penguin colony.

For a break from the adrenaline, you can visit Robben Island to learn about Nelson Mandela’s legacy. End the day by stopping by Bree Street or Kloof Street, which are local favorites for tapas and hidden bars.

Queenstown, New Zealand

Known as the adventure capital of the world, Queenstown offers bungee jumping at Kawarau Bridge and jet boating in the Shotover River canyons. If you’d rather stay on the ground, hike the Queenstown Hill Walking Trail or take on the more challenging Ben Lomond.

In addition to its adventure-oriented character, Queenstown also offers a rich food scene. See what New Zealand meat pies are like and taste the local wines. If some girls in your group prefer beer, you can even do a joint wine and beer tour to visit boutique wineries and local breweries.

Zermatt, Switzerland

Zermatt is a car-free village located at the foot of the famous Matterhorn, making it a great place for relaxing and being on the move. A highlight is to take the Gornergrat Railway to see the panoramic views of the Matterhorn. While there, you can try paragliding or take a standing bike tour.

Once you’re back, visit the old town and marvel at traditional Swiss chalets dating back to the 16th century. The main village has a more modern feel to it, with Swiss chocolate shops and high-end restaurants.

Best seasonal girls trip destinations

There are great opportunities for girls trips throughout the year, but the right timing can elevate your entire experience.

Spring: Amsterdam & Lisse, Netherlands

Visit Amsterdam and Lisse in spring (March to May) to see the cities in their full, colorful glory. In Lisse, the Keukenhof Gardens are open only for eight weeks a year, showcasing millions of blooming tulips and daffodils. It’s a stunning backdrop for your group photo. You can also rent a bike to tour the surrounding Bollenstreek flower strip.

Amsterdam’s canal-side culture is at its peak in spring. Check out the historic mills and have a picnic among the blooms in Vondelpark. Rent bikes to tour the Jordaan district, then spend your evenings at the high-energy clubs of Rembrandtplein. If you time your trip for late April, you may even get the chance to experience King’s Day and take part in street parties that turn Amsterdam orange.

Summer: Mackinac Island, Michigan, USA

If you want something distinct, Mackinac Island offers a "frozen in time" summer experience. It’s another place that bans all motor vehicles, so your options to explore the island include biking or a horse-drawn (and human-narrated) carriage tour. Fort Mackinac is a site with historical reenactments including live cannon firings and costumed interpreters.

While summer is the best time to visit Mackinac Island, we also have to highlight the annual “Somewhere in Time” event in October. Guests spend a weekend reliving the 1980 cult classic (and one of my personal favorites) starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. Tour filming locations like the Grand Hotel, then enjoy movie screenings and a formal dinner.

Autumn: Kyoto, Japan

While Japan is attractive year-round, nothing beats Kyoto in autumn, when its many temples become surrounded by vibrant red and orange maple leaves. It’s the Koyo (autumn leaf viewing) season, and temples like Kiyomizu-dera have special night illuminations where the trees are lit up against the dark sky.

It’s also a great time to participate in a traditional tea ceremony, where you can wear kimonos and make your own matcha. There are many places to do this, so it’s a good idea to match the location to the area you’re sightseeing. Gion district is a popular choice, but Camellia Garden might be more convenient if you’re in the Northwest.

Winter: Vienna, Austria

In my humble opinion, Vienna has the most fairytale-like Christmas markets in Europe. The one in Rathausplatz is the largest, but it’s also crowded. My favorites are in front of the Belvedere Palace and Schönbrunn Palace, but even the smaller ones (like at St. Stephen’s Cathedral) are worth checking out. Enjoy a warm mug of Glühwein (mulled wine) and check out all sorts of handcrafted goods.

HOT TIP

If you’re visiting in January, you can ice skate in front of the City Hall and take a break in some of the cozy coffeehouses (tasting the chocolate Sachertorte is a must) to escape the cold. I also recommend visiting museums like the Albertina or the Kunsthistorisches Museum, as they’re much less crowded compared to summer.

Girls just wanna have fun

The best girls trip destinations are all about how well a place fits your group’s energy and budget. Whether you’re planning beach days, cultural exploration, or adventure-filled itineraries, finding the right location makes everything else feel effortless.

What sets a great girls trip apart is how well all the details come together. Choose places that are easy to navigate and packed with distinct experiences, but still flexible enough for different travel styles. This ensures everyone has an amazing time. With the right mix of planning and spontaneity, you’ll be on your way to an unforgettable girls trip.
